Athens Campaign 2024 Recap

This year's Athens campaign was once again a huge success! Thanks to you, we supported our 5 partner organizations with almost €10,000.

During the campaign we were able to equip the Free Shop of Khora Athens with 3800 pieces of soap manufactured on Samos. And we were able to supply dry food for the associated Social Kitchen for the next 2 months. Thanks to the your support, we were able to provide the Failté Community Centre not only with office and garden supplies, but also with knitting materials, canvases, paint, and guitar books. For the women’s space of Glocal Roots, we again provided hygiene materials and diapers for 4 month. Our partners from the Mazi Housing Project got household supplies. In addition to cleaning materials such as 192 liters of laundry detergent and 132 liters of chlorine cleaner, we provided 880 rolls of toilet paper and a new washing machine.

We were also able to provide our partner project MVI (Medical Volunteers International) with bandages and disinfectants for several months, a baby scale, and a patient stretcher. The MVI project is facing an even greater challenge than usual: The Greek government withdrew its health authority EODY from all refugee camps a few weeks ago and now NGOs have to cover what ever is possible. To ensure that the initiative, which is concentrated on the city of Athens, can also work in the camps outside the city, we were able to provide an additional €500 for fuel.

Project Elpida thanks all of you for your support that helps making this essential aid possible!
