We hope you’ve had a restful summer so far! While most people here tend to head out of the city during the summer months, we ventured right into it—specifically to Athens.

In mid-July, with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees, we were on the ground to distribute your donations to our partner organizations. Due to the new rules of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS), the situation for refugees across the country has changed drastically, and this is particularly noticeable in Athens.

More and more people are coming from the camps to the capital—and getting stranded here. Safe housing, aid, and support are so scarce that many refugees have no choice but to survive—or merely exist—on the streets.

Thanks to you, we were able to raise over €10,000 to ensure that four partner organizations can continue to provide services for refugees. As always, we consulted with our partners beforehand to determine where the needs are currently greatest and then procured the supplies directly on site.

From household goods and medical supplies to sewing and cooking utensils, we made countless trips by car to deliver these items to the respective organizations. Imagine the whole thing as a week-long move with a car that’s too small and way too many belongings!
