5. Athens Campaign

In July, we’ll be visiting the Greek capital for the fifth time. This also means we’re celebrating a small but special anniversary. We’re using this opportunity to support our local partners:

• Glocal Roots which currently focuses on three initiatives in Athens: the Victoria Community Center, the Social Factory, and the Women’s and Kids Space—all aimed at promoting participation, integration, and, through them, at least some degree of independence.

  
  

• Medical Solidarity International provides support both at fixed locations in Athens and in the camps outside Athens, as such support is either unavailable or insufficient for people fleeing their homes and refugees.

  
  

• Saffron Kitchen Project combines the free distribution of 400–500 meals a day to refugees and those in need. There is an opportunity to complete a certified training program in the kitchen.

• Mazi Housing Project  Housing Project provides safe housing for young male refugees, with access to psychosocial support, educational opportunities, and legal assistance for homeless male refugees.

• Den Khora Freeshop has been operating in Exarcheia since 2016 and offers free clothing and hygiene products to refugees

As in previous years, we are in close contact with these organizations and can use your donations to procure exactly the products that are currently needed. In July, we will be on the ground in Athens to meet directly with the organizations.
